- The
Siberian Husky is a breed that is not always suited for everyone
as they do have the
- tendency
to be their own master and do their own thing. Siberians are a
highly intelligent
- breed that
needs to have their minds constantly active and always occupied;
they’re
- quick to
learn and eager to please. You will find that the Siberian Husky
loves to do the
- gardening
when the opportunity arises.
Temperament-Siberians
have a gentle temperament and are a very friendly breed and do
- not have
the aggressive or the protective nature required for instance for
having a guard
- dog.
Eye Problems-There
are three common eye problems that may or can affect the Siberian
- Husky.
They are bilateral cataracts, crystalline corneal opacities and
progressive retinal
- atrophy
each one of the diseases will attack a different part of the eye
if severe enough
- can cause
loss of vision. All Sire and Dams of Chalariz puppies undergo an
eye examination
- and must
be clear before used for breeding.
Hip & Elbow Displasia-The
hip and elbow dysplasia is becoming more prominent in today’s
- Siberian
therefore before
purchasing a puppy from a breeder you should site a copy of
- their hip and
elbow certificate. The closer to zero the score the stronger the
hip and
- elbow. All
Chalariz puppies are provided with a portfolio containing acopy
of the hip and
- elbow certificate
of the Sire and Dam.
General-The
Siberian Husky is in general is a tough breed but do tend to be
very susceptive
- to spider
and insect bites. These tend to be the most common colporates for
sudden
- swelling
or inflammation of their pigmentation.
Breed Standard
The Siberian Husky can come in variety of colours with any eye
colour combination, they
- are a medium
breed with well balanced proportions and well developed muscles.
Their
- head should
appear fox-like with a muzzle of medium length gradually tapering
to a
- rounded nose
their ears should be triangular in shape and relatively close
together and
- strongly erect
they should have a good scissor bite- with their upper teeth
closely
- overlapping
their lower teeth. Viewed from a standing position the Siberian
Husky should
- have a level top
line, be medium in length with a nice deep chest (not to broad)
their
- stifles well
bent and their hocks well defined and angulated. The Siberians
feet are slightly
- webbed and round
in shape, a fox-brush styled shaped tail with a slight curl.
Siberian
- Huskies have two
layers of coat an undercoat and an outer coat (guard hair). When a
- Siberian is
gaiting they should be quick and light on their feet and should
exhibit good
- reach in their
forequarter and plenty of drive in the hindquarter.
